The newly established law 3719/2008, as it is been recently modified, it
foresees that only between two heterosexual adults is permitted to be written.
The symbiosis treaty is a notary’s instrument that is contracted between two adults, in order to declare before the notary their desire to live as a
married couple.
So as the treaty to be valid and official, a copy of it is needed to be submitted to the Registrar of the residence’s place of the couple. Thereinafter, the Registrar records this copy into the special book of the Register.
The bond that is created between the couple, is powerful and official, as like that with the synapse of marriage.
The Law 3719/2008 foresees that the heterosexual couple may define in the treaty the last name of their children, the exercise of parental care, the regulation of fortune of the couple and so on.
The hereditary right of one to the other’s fortune is exactly the same as in synapse of the marriage.
The symbiosis treaty is untied with the agreement of the couple, which is done in person with a notary’s deed, either with an unilateral declaration, after is been announced by a legal notice to the other part, either in personal, if there is made a marriage between the couple or between one of them and a third person.
In general, the symbiosis treaty is another official and valid way of union between two persons and creating a family.
